The decisions made between local people together with project technicians when developing and implementing a museum project have allowed the people from Chacas (Ancash, Perú) to (re)value
their heritage and to feel identified with their cultural history. In this paper, the processes of participation in the construction of a museum in the community are illustrated, emphasizing the importance of participatory management in heritage related projects.
