EU-LAC-MUSEUMS project Coordinator Karen Brown led a panel session on the topic of UWI Carifesta Panel on Community Museums: Challenges and Legacy during the recent conference "The Caribbean, The Arts & The Cultural Industries", held at the University of the West Indies during Carifesta XIII. Brown reported on the EU-LAC-MUSEUMS project research including initial research into the museums of Barbados, the project Youth Exchange, and opened up questions on community museums in the Caribbean contexts. A panel discussion was then held amongst Tamika Boatswain, Director of Culture (ag) and Administrator, Guyana National Museum, Ministry of Education , Department of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Sherene James-Williamson, President - Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC) & Lecturer & Museum Curator,University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Department of Geography and Geology, and Alissandra Cummins, Director, Barbados Museum and Historical Society, Former President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), Former President of the Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC).
