As part of the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Santiago Round Table and its commemoration programme, ICOM Chile in collaboration with Universidad Austral de Chile and the EULAC Museums and Community project, among others, organized a series of lectures on the museum’s role in our societies to be held throughout October and November 2017 at the University of Concepción, Chile.
The main goal of both the commemoration programme and the series of lectures is to promote and foster an actualized and critical discussion on the principles of the Declaration of Santiago Round Table as well as to educate on the topic.
For this occasion, Karin Weil will give the inaugural lecture on October 2nd, which will address the Chilean case studies part of the EULAC Museum and Communities project. The lecture, called “Museums and Communities: Concepts, experiences, and sustainability in the south of Chile”, will be a great opportunity to disseminate both the overall project and the specificities of what UACh is doing.
